Technology Project: The TI-Nspire (TM)

Picture
A lesson plan I put together with Tony Winkler, modified from a lesson by Stephen Arnold and Philippe Fortin.

This lesson plan uses the TI-Nspire to help students explore a classical Calculus problem--how to find the fastest way from point A (at sea) to point B (on land), given the fact that one runs faster than one swims.

Our goal for this project was to design a lesson plan that made use of the TI-Nspire's versatility--we did not want to feel like the lesson would have been better with GSP, for example.  We also wanted to make sure that the technology was included only when it actually made something easier to understand or visualize.  We removed many pages from the original lesson plan that we felt were easier to do on paper (question & answers, for example).

Here is the lesson plan and worksheet.
